HTTP 503 Service unavailable error

Error

HTTP 503 STATUS or "Service unavailable" error returned after making an HTTP call

In my case i was calling a LONG RUNNING PHP script using AJAX


Solution


This error may be caused by any of the following

1- Server load is very high, server can't serve your request:
    ACTION: FREE SOME SERVER RESOURCES

2- The network call has been terminated before the server responds, may be because of a firewall or os/network timeout settings

3- The server has been restarted or the server process has been killed


My case was #2, i found that the ISP network settings terminates any TCP connection which spans more than 60 seconds (always terminating after 60 sec)

If this is your case, then you may need to change the design of your website to be asynchronous or to make your script returns any data before the timeout (HEARTBEAT)

You can make your request asynchronous by making an initial call to start the long running process and then do multiple calls on specific intervals to check if the long running process has finished and then return the response

This new version is only to adapt the new version of Fakku, so it doesn't have any new feature. But it still exists two things that not work:

 - Login validate (you can login, but the app is not going to notify you if your password is incorrect or not. If your login and password are correct you are going to do every old feature: Add or remove to favorites and see your favorites)

 - List comments (This feature is not available)

Jacob said me that Fakku is going to release his API soon and that is going to simplify me the life :D and for you it means that you won't have to update the app so frecuently.

Devsaki: I'm not sure if it's going to work, but I created a new Preferences module, this replace the old Settings module. Please test it and say me if it works or not.

"RC~: when i try to run it on my Gingerbread device, sometimes the download notification tell me that the download is finished but it's still unfinished, and i met corrupt image files when downloading."


Devsaki: Now, if the download is unfinished or corrupted, the app is going to advise you.

smali syntax highlighting for sublime

i have been using sublime text 2 + androguard plugin for decompiling and am liking it very much. it doesn't do as well producing correct java as, say, dex2jar + jdgui, but it's sometimes easier to read. it doesn't handle try/catch blocks at all -- just ignores them. this means it's a great alternative for jdgui, which will error out on methods with overlapping try/catch stuff.

since i've been using sublime, i've also needed a smali syntax highlighter, which i found here: https://github.com/ShaneWilton/sublime-smali

it's the best syntax highlighter i've seen because of the line level syntax validation it does. when you write smali, you can be more confident it is correct with this. you should check out the regex if you're a fan of such tedium.
